Independent guide, not an official website

Nepal Docs Guide is not affiliated with the Government of Nepal. This guide helps you prepare, but official portals and offices control final rules, fees, forms, and timelines.

Quick answer

Get the eSewa app through esewa.com.np or use its official registration service. Register with contact details you control, verify the code inside the service and set your own security credentials. Account creation is separate from KYC. eSewa's published KYC instructions direct users through the profile and My Information section to enter identity details and upload the requested photo and government identification. Match the form to a valid original document, provide clear images and follow the current camera and upload prompts. Check the recorded verification outcome before assuming a service is available. If rejected, fix the stated mismatch rather than opening another account with the same identity.

Eligibility

  • A person opening an account for themselves who can meet eSewa's current account terms and identity-verification requirements.
  • A person with a mobile number or other registration contact they control, and access to the code delivered by the official service.
  • An existing user should recover or correct their existing account rather than creating another one to bypass a KYC rejection or contact problem.
  • This article does not establish a universal minimum age, a foreign-national route or a business-wallet document pack. Ask eSewa which route applies if its current form does not fit your situation.

Required documents checklist

  • □ Your correct name and registration contact details, with access to the mobile or email verification channel shown by the current service.
  • □ A valid original government identification document accepted in the live KYC form. eSewa's published guidance lists citizenship, driving licence, passport, voter ID and National ID; check the current choices before preparing uploads.
  • □ Readable colour images of the document's required sides or pages. Keep names, document numbers, issue details and relevant validity information visible; use the format and size requested by the current screen.
  • □ The profile photograph or live camera capture requested by the service, with your face clearly visible. eSewa's rejection guidance cautions against filters, unclear images and a mismatch with the identification photograph.
  • □ Name, date and address information taken from the selected identity record. Prepare to explain a genuine mismatch through official support rather than editing the evidence.
  • □ Any existing eSewa identifier if you have previously registered, and a private record of a verification submission or rejection reason. Do not include your OTP, password or MPIN in a support screenshot.

Step-by-step process

  1. Check whether you already have an eSewa account. If your identity was previously verified or a phone number is already registered, use the existing-account recovery or support route. Starting again can create a duplicate-identity problem without fixing the original account.
  2. Open https://esewa.com.np/ and use its official app-store links or registration service. Confirm the website address before entering identity details. Avoid a sponsored download or an APK sent by someone offering faster verification.
  3. Choose registration in the official service and enter the required contact and personal information for yourself. eSewa's published app-registration guide uses a mobile number and name. Follow the current form rather than forcing an older screenshot's field order onto a newer version.
  4. Read the service's terms and complete its verification prompts yourself. Enter the code only in the official app or website. Set the password or MPIN requested by that route, keep it private and enable an appropriate lock on the phone. Never send a code or MPIN to a person claiming to approve KYC.
  5. After account setup, find the profile's identity-verification section. eSewa's published path is profile picture, My Information and Continue. Labels can change with an app update; look for the current KYC or verification instruction rather than assuming that a successful login means verified status.
  6. Enter identity details from the chosen valid original document. Review spelling, birth date and address before uploading. A shortened name used for everyday payments should not replace the legal details the verification form asks you to reconcile.
  7. Take clear document images and the photo or live capture requested. Inspect every image before submitting: the edges and relevant text should be visible, with no glare covering numbers or dates. Provide both sides when requested. Do not alter a document, remove a seal or use someone else's photo to solve a mismatch.
  8. Review the complete KYC submission once. Confirm that the selected document type matches the uploaded record and that it has not expired where validity applies. Submit through eSewa and retain the submission or status evidence privately.
  9. Check the recorded KYC outcome. If pending, look for a request for further information; the ability to open the account does not confirm approval. If rejected, read the reason and correct the identified field, document image or photo through the service's permitted process.
  10. Contact eSewa through its official help page if an already-used document, duplicate account, identity discrepancy or inaccessible registered contact needs review. Explain which stage failed and provide only the records support requests through its official channel. Do not open additional accounts, pay for approval or repeatedly upload the same rejected files.

Fees and timelines

  • eSewa's published FAQ states that registration is free. Do not pay an unofficial account-opening or KYC-approval agent.
  • Free registration does not mean every wallet service, withdrawal or transfer is free. Check the current tariff and the charge shown for a transaction before authorising it.
  • eSewa's older KYC guide describes a quick process, but that does not verify one approval time for every case. Treat document preparation, submission and reviewed verification as separate stages.
  • This guide does not repeat an old rupee threshold or promise unlimited verified-wallet transactions. Current service availability and limits must be checked in eSewa's current instructions and your account.
  • An unresolved KYC rejection can require support review. No guaranteed number of retries, approval deadline or paid fast-track is established by the sources reviewed.

Common mistakes

  • Creating another eSewa ID after an identity document was already used for an existing account.
  • Treating account registration or OTP verification as completed KYC.
  • Uploading a blurred photocopy, an expired document or only one required side.
  • Entering a different name or date from the document and attempting to repair it by editing the scan.
  • Using a filtered or unclear photo that cannot be reconciled with the identification record.
  • Giving a helper an OTP, password or MPIN, or paying someone who promises guaranteed verification.
  • Assuming an old blog's transaction threshold or completion-time statement is the current rule for every service.

Prepare a useful support message

Describe whether registration, login, document upload or KYC review failed. Include the registered contact identifier through the official channel and the exact error or rejection reason. Redact credentials and unrelated payment details from screenshots. Ask which record needs correction before sending a full set of identity files again.

Independent account-preparation guide

NepalDocsGuide is independent of eSewa and Nepal Rastra Bank. It does not open accounts, receive identity uploads, verify customers or guarantee approval. Enter personal records only in the official service. eSewa's security guidance says to protect your password and MPIN and beware of requests to reveal them.
