Independent guide, not an official website

Nepal Docs Guide is not affiliated with the Government of Nepal. This guide helps you prepare, but official portals and offices control final rules, fees, forms, and timelines.

Quick answer

Start at Tribhuvan University's Office of the Controller of Examinations website, exam.tu.edu.np. Find the result notice that matches your programme, year, examination year and regular, partial or chance category. Follow the office's Results link for an individual lookup and use the symbol number printed on that exam's admit card. If the result service is unavailable, use the official notice to confirm what has been published and ask your campus examination section about your record. A blank search or a server error does not prove that you failed. An online result screenshot also does not establish that you have an officially issued marksheet or transcript.

Eligibility

  • A TU student checking a result published through the Office of the Controller of Examinations for the examination they actually sat.
  • A student with the correct programme, course year, exam year, category and symbol number from the relevant admit card.
  • A student in a semester, institute or faculty-managed examination should first confirm its responsible examination authority. This office's annual-exam notice is not evidence that every TU result uses the same service.
  • This guide covers result lookup and follow-up. Retotaling, certificate correction and transcript applications have separate instructions and eligibility.

Required documents checklist

  • □ The admit card for this examination, with its symbol number and the programme and exam details visible. Do not substitute a registration number or a previous year's symbol number.
  • □ Your programme and course year, the examination year shown in the notice, and whether you appeared as a regular, partial or chance candidate.
  • □ The official result notice and any attachment or later correction notice. Save its title, publication date and website address together.
  • □ A copy of the returned result if available, plus the date and selected examination context. Keep a screenshot private when it contains your identity or marks.
  • □ Your TU registration and campus details for a campus or examination-office enquiry; provide these through an official channel when requested, rather than posting them in a public comment.

Step-by-step process

  1. Read your admit card before searching. Write down the programme, course year, examination year, category and symbol number. These are different identifiers: a fourth-year course can have a result published in a later calendar year.
  2. Open https://exam.tu.edu.np/ and go to Notices. Start with the examination office, rather than a social-media screenshot claiming that all TU results are out. Confirm that the page belongs to the university.
  3. Find the notice for your exact examination. The notice page provides title and date filters and notice types. Look for an Exam Result announcement; an exam-centre notice, practical-mark submission notice or retotaling result answers a different question.
  4. Match the entire notice title, including programme length, course year, examination year and regular, partial or chance category. On 8 October 2026 the office listed a 4-year B.Sc. fourth-year regular/partial 2082 result dated 6 October. That is a dated example, not proof that another programme or 2083 exam has been published.
  5. Open the matched notice and inspect any attachment. A publication announcement can establish the examination covered without providing every student's detailed marks. Check for a revised notice before relying on an earlier download.
  6. For an individual lookup, follow the Results link on the examination office's current website. The link checked for this guide points to result.exam.tu.edu.np. Use the service it currently links rather than an old bookmarked portal. Select the examination details offered by the live form and enter the admit-card symbol number exactly.
  7. If a result appears, reconcile its examination context and any displayed identity with your own record before saving it. A result belonging to a different category or symbol number is not yours even if the name looks similar. Read any explanation supplied by TU rather than guessing the meaning of an unfamiliar status.
  8. If nothing is found, recheck the notice and every selected field once. Confirm that the particular result is published and that you have not searched a regular result for a partial or chance exam. Do not interpret an empty response as a pass, fail or withheld decision.
  9. If the portal shows 502, a timeout or a blank page, keep the official notice and try again later. Both current and older result hosts were unavailable during this review while the office's notice and contact pages worked. An unavailable server is not an academic outcome; do not pay a third party to unlock it.
  10. For a persistent missing record or a marksheet question, contact your campus examination section with the admit card and matched notice. Ask which examination office handles the record and which document service you need. TU's current contact page separately lists general enquiry and IT channels; describe a portal-access error separately from a marks discrepancy.

Fees and timelines

  • The reviewed notice pages do not state a payment requirement for reading their public announcements. Do not assume an unofficial site's charge is a TU result-checking fee.
  • There is no verified single release date covering every TU programme or examination category. Use the publication date and scope of your own official notice.
  • A server error does not establish when the lookup will return. This guide promises neither an immediate result nor a restoration time for the university's result service.
  • An officially issued marksheet, transcript, retotaling application or corrected certificate can have its own fee and procedure. Confirm the current service before paying; this guide does not quote an old tariff or a universal collection time.
  • If you intend to request retotaling, check that examination's current notice promptly. A portal outage does not itself extend an application deadline, and this result-checking guide does not supply a generic retotaling window.

Common mistakes

  • Searching with a TU registration number when the lookup asks for an examination symbol number.
  • Confusing the current Nepali calendar year with the examination year in the notice.
  • Treating a retotaling announcement or another programme's result as the first publication of your result.
  • Assuming Not Found, a blank page or HTTP 502 means failed or withheld.
  • Presenting a browser screenshot as an officially issued academic document without checking what the receiving institution accepts.
  • Sharing an admit card, identity number or full marks screenshot publicly to seek help.

Which TU page answers your question?

What you needUseAvoid assuming
Whether your examination result is publishedThe matching official Exam Result noticeAll TU programmes were released together
Your own resultThe office-linked result service and correct exam identityA blank response means failure
An officially issued marksheet or transcriptThe responsible document service confirmed with your campusA screenshot replaces every academic document
A review of awarded marksThat exam's current retotaling instructionA general result search submits a review request

A useful missing-result enquiry

Explain: programme; course year; examination year; regular, partial or chance; symbol number; matched notice title and date; and the exact message returned. Send that privately to your campus or the responsible office. It gives staff a specific record to investigate instead of an unexplained 'result not showing' screenshot.

Result portal availability checked

On 8 October 2026 the TU-linked individual result portal returned a server error during this review. Official notices and examination-office contacts remained reachable. Start there if lookup is unavailable. NepalDocsGuide is independent of TU and cannot retrieve private results, change marks or issue academic certificates.
