Independent guide, not an official website

Nepal Docs Guide is not affiliated with the Government of Nepal. This guide helps you prepare, but official portals and offices control final rules, fees, forms, and timelines.

Quick answer

Use NEB's official Student Portal only while a Grade 12 re-totaling window is open. Enter the symbol number and date of birth in the format shown, select only the subjects you want re-totaled, review the live fee and deadline, complete the portal payment, and save the receipt or reference. Re-totaling checks the recorded result under NEB's current procedure; it is not a promise of a mark increase and should not be described as an unrestricted full re-evaluation. If the portal cannot find your record, stop before paying and compare the symbol number, birth date, examination year and result status with the official result and school record. Deadlines and amounts belong to the active NEB notice, so this guide does not carry a past window or fee into a new examination cycle.

Eligibility

  • A Grade 12 candidate whose result belongs to an examination and subject included in NEB's currently open re-totaling notice
  • A candidate who can match the official symbol number and date of birth to NEB's student record
  • A candidate applying before the deadline shown in the active notice and portal
  • A candidate who understands that re-totaling is different from a supplementary exam, re-examination, withheld-result correction, certificate correction or duplicate-document request
  • This guide does not create eligibility after a deadline and does not cover SEE re-totaling unless NEB expressly routes that examination through the same active service

Required documents checklist

  • The official Grade 12 result or grade sheet showing the candidate's symbol number and subjects
  • The date of birth exactly as recorded in the NEB examination record, entered in the BS format illustrated by the portal
  • The examination year, subject names and subject codes from the official result or active notice
  • A phone, browser and payment method accepted by the live NEB portal
  • The active NEB re-totaling notice, checked for the eligible examination, deadline, amount and result-publication method
  • A screenshot or downloaded copy of the selected subjects before payment
  • The payment confirmation, transaction reference and application receipt saved after submission
  • School registration or admit-card evidence for troubleshooting only if the portal record does not match

Step-by-step process

  1. Confirm that NEB has opened re-totaling for your exact Grade 12 examination. Use the date and deadline in the current official notice; an older notice or a result-publication page is not an open application window.
  2. Read what the service covers. Do not treat re-totaling, rechecking, re-examination, supplementary examination and correction of an identity or certificate error as interchangeable remedies.
  3. Open the official NEB Student Portal from the NEB website or type the government domain carefully. Avoid links sent by an agent that ask for payment outside the official flow.
  4. Enter the symbol number exactly as printed and the date of birth in the BS format illustrated on the portal. Do not repeatedly change the birth date merely to force a record match.
  5. If no record appears, compare the examination year, symbol number and birth date with the grade sheet, admit card and school registration. Ask the school or NEB contact to identify the source mismatch before paying.
  6. When the record loads, compare the displayed name and examination details. Stop if another candidate appears or a core identity detail is wrong.
  7. Select only the subjects for which you are requesting re-totaling. Match subject names and codes to the official result; do not select a similarly named optional subject by guesswork.
  8. Review the current fee per subject, total amount and application deadline on the live portal or notice. The portal controls the amount; do not rely on a screenshot from another year.
  9. Complete payment only through the offered official method. Verify the symbol number, selected subjects and total before confirming because payment correction or refund may not be available.
  10. Wait for the portal's final confirmation. Save the application or payment reference, receipt, selected-subject list and the date of submission. A bank debit without an NEB confirmation may need support follow-up.
  11. Monitor NEB's official notice archive for re-totaling results. NEB may publish results in subject groups or stages, so a result notice for another subject is not the final answer for your application.
  12. Compare any revised or confirmed result with the original. Save the official notice and updated record before applying for a transcript or other certificate.
  13. If a grade changes, ask NEB or the responsible office how the updated grade sheet, transcript or certificate is issued. Do not edit a downloaded document yourself.
  14. If the result does not change, use the next official academic option only if eligible. Re-totaling itself does not extend a supplementary-exam or admission deadline.

Fees and timelines

  • The fee is whatever NEB's active notice and Student Portal show for that examination and number of subjects. This guide intentionally does not reuse a past fee.
  • A payment-service charge may appear separately in the live flow. Review the final total before confirming and keep the transaction reference.
  • The submission deadline is examination-specific. An inaccessible portal near the deadline does not automatically create an extension; preserve evidence and contact NEB promptly.
  • NEB publishes re-totaling results through official notices and may release subject groups on different dates. No single turnaround is guaranteed here.
  • A later updated grade sheet, transcript or certificate can involve a separate NEB process and charge; re-totaling payment should not be assumed to include every replacement document.

Common mistakes

  • Applying from an old notice after its deadline
  • Entering an AD birth date when the portal example requests BS
  • Guessing a different birth date to make a record load
  • Choosing the wrong subject or paper code
  • Treating re-totaling as guaranteed full re-evaluation
  • Paying an agent or personal account instead of the official portal
  • Closing the payment page without saving the NEB and transaction references
  • Assuming a bank debit alone proves the NEB application was recorded
  • Monitoring only one result notice when NEB publishes subject groups in stages
  • Editing a grade sheet after a changed result instead of obtaining the official updated record
  • Missing a separate supplementary-exam or admission deadline while waiting
  • Using this guide for a name, birth-date or certificate-printing correction

Independent guide; the active notice controls
