How to Recover a Forgotten SSF Contributor ID in Nepal
A practical recovery guide for Nepal Social Security Fund contributors who have lost their SSID or UserID: which official SOSYS option to use, how mobile or email OTP recovery works, when to ask an employer for the enrolment record, and which SSF support channel handles an inaccessible account.
Independent guide, not an official website
Nepal Docs Guide is not affiliated with the Government of Nepal. This guide helps you prepare, but official portals and offices control final rules, fees, forms, and timelines.
Quick answer
Open the official SSF Contributor Login and choose Recover. The live form lets you select the registered mobile number or email address and verify an OTP. A contributor SSID starts with 2, but the portal also asks for a separate UserID and password. If you no longer control the registered contact or cannot identify the SSID, ask the employer that enrolled you for the contributor record, then contact SSF IT support with identity and employment evidence. Do not create a duplicate profile or pay someone to retrieve credentials.
Eligibility
- An SSF contributor enrolled by an employer who has forgotten the SSID or UserID
- A contributor who sees an account-recovery problem after changing or losing access to the registered mobile number or email
- A worker whose employer says enrolment was completed but who cannot identify the contributor credentials
- People using the standard SSF contributor portal; migrant-worker, self-employed and informal-sector accounts have separate portal routes
Required documents checklist
- □ Access to the mobile number or email address recorded on the SSF account for self-service OTP recovery
- □ Nepali citizenship or other identity record matching the contributor profile if SSF support must verify the account
- □ Employer name, place of work, employment start information and the HR or payroll contact that handled SSF enrolment
- □ Any contributor card, payroll record, SSF message, contribution statement, screenshot or old correspondence showing all or part of the SSID or UserID
- □ A safe new mobile number or email controlled by the contributor if SSF officially instructs a contact-detail update
- □ A written description of the exact problem: SSID unknown, UserID unknown, password forgotten, OTP not received or registered contact unavailable
Step-by-step process
- Start from ssf.gov.np or sosys.ssf.gov.np and choose Contributor Portal. Do not use the Employer Portal or a search result that asks for payment.
- Identify what is missing. The live login says a contributor SSID starts with 2 and asks separately for SSID, password and UserID. These are not interchangeable.
- Choose Recover on the official Contributor Login. Select the registered mobile number or email address as the alert source, enter that contact detail and request the OTP.
- Enter the OTP only on the official sosys.ssf.gov.np page. Follow the confirmation shown by the portal and save the recovered identifier in a password manager or another private record.
- Use Reset Password only when the problem is the password rather than a missing identifier. Do not repeatedly create new accounts to solve a login problem.
- If the registered mobile or email is unavailable, contact the employer's HR or payroll team. The SOSYS instructions say employers enrol contributors and that verified contributors receive a username, password and SSID, so the employer should retain the enrolment record.
- If the employer record is unavailable or does not match, contact SSF IT support at itsupport@ssf.gov.np. Include your name, identity details, employer and a concise description, but do not email a password, OTP or full bank information.
- Use reg@ssf.gov.np only when the underlying problem is employer or contributor listing rather than an ordinary login fault. SSF's contact page separates listing and IT channels.
- After access is restored, sign in and compare the name, identity, employer and available contribution history. Send KYC errors to the official KYC channel instead of treating them as another ID-recovery problem.
- Change any default or reused password and keep the SSID, UserID and password separately protected. Tell HR if the recovered record belongs to another person or employer.
Fees and timelines
- The official login, SOSYS guidance and SSF contact page reviewed for this guide do not publish a fee for recovering a contributor identifier. Do not pay an intermediary for the Recover or OTP function.
- No guaranteed recovery or support-response time is published on the reviewed official pages. Self-service can complete during the OTP flow, while identity or contact-detail verification may require employer or SSF review.
- OTP delivery depends on the contact saved on the account and the mobile or email service. Repeated requests do not prove that the account is missing.
- If the employer never completed or SSF never verified the contributor enrolment, this is a registration problem rather than account recovery. The employer must correct the listing through the official route.
- SSF's current contact page lists toll-free 1116 for general information, but the same page gives inconsistent carrier wording in different sections. Use the number without assuming one carrier rule, or use the published support email.
Common mistakes
- Entering an employer SSID in the contributor form; the live page says a contributor SSID begins with 2
- Confusing SSID, UserID and password and resetting the wrong credential
- Using an unregistered mobile number or email for OTP recovery
- Creating a second contributor profile when the existing account only needs recovery
- Sharing an OTP, password or full identity scan with an unofficial agent or through social media
- Emailing every problem to registration support when SSF publishes a separate IT-support channel
- Recovering access but not checking whether the employer, identity and contribution record belong to the correct person
- Assuming that an absent contribution history means the contributor ID is wrong; payroll deposit or reconciliation can be a separate issue
Choose the correct SSF recovery route
| Problem | First official route | What to avoid |
|---|---|---|
| SSID or UserID forgotten | Contributor Login > Recover > registered mobile/email > OTP | Creating another contributor profile |
| Password forgotten but identifiers known | Contributor Login > Reset Password | Treating SSID and password as the same field |
| Registered mobile or email unavailable | Employer enrolment record, then SSF IT support with identity evidence | Sending an OTP or password to an agent |
| Employer never enrolled or record was not verified | Employer listing or registration route and reg@ssf.gov.np | Calling it a login-recovery problem |
| Access restored but identity or bank details are wrong | SSF's dedicated KYC channel | Changing unsupported fields or opening a duplicate account |
Keep account recovery private
An SSF support request may need identity and employment evidence, but no legitimate recovery step requires you to publish an SSID, forward an OTP, or give an unknown helper your password. Use only ssf.gov.np and sosys.ssf.gov.np.
